Allow me indulge please, after all today is Valentine’s Day. Usually, I am not particularly motivated on this ‘special’ day but two events have this year’s somewhat different for me.
Friday the twelfth…..
So, wholeheartedly I honoured a friend’s invitation to join in on a surprise birthday dinner she had organized. Seriously, why hesitate? She is everything a great hostess could be and I am yet to meet anyone better at it.
Apart from the exquisitely put together outdoor area, this time; our favorite hostess decided to go with an Egyptian chef. At this point it was a clear-cut resolution for me: You see, the bartenders through the waiters were determined to meet my every need (almost at the speed of light, their response time). However, yours truly needed to have room in her stomach for the night’s menu.
And so, bite after bite, I chewed and swallowed. Tasting almost every meticulously prepare meal that was laid out on the tables until finally my stomach was more than slightly in front of me. Since the sun already took its radiance elsewhere, my new stomach size was not in any way threatened by staring eyes. I only had to deal with my gait which by now mimicked that of a typical Nigerian pregnant woman.
Saturday the thirteenth…
Okay last year, I agreed to volunteer at a children’s club. So every Saturday in the month of February I would spend 3-4 hours assisting their teachers. The topic for this day had everything to do with love and the children; even wore clothes with a touch of red!
Wondering what it is like to discuss with ten to twelve year olds? I would say; It’s a surprise, either pleasant or disappointing. Honestly, your imagination cannot beat the reality.
Sunday the fourteenth
Without feeling sorry for myself, chances are that today will not necessarily be as exciting as the last two days. Nonetheless, whether I choose to go about my normal activities like read a book, write, try new recipes etc or not; I am pleased to say Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
What’s the vibe at your end :) ?!
